Teeth Filling

Teeth Filling

Teeth filling is a common dental procedure used to restore teeth damaged by decay, wear, or minor fractures. The goal is to remove the decayed or affected portion of the tooth and fill the area with a suitable material to restore its shape, function, and integrity. This not only helps prevent further decay but also alleviates discomfort and improves overall oral health.

The process typically begins with a dental examination and, if needed, X-rays to assess the extent of decay. The dentist then numbs the area around the affected tooth to ensure a painless experience. The decayed portion of the tooth is carefully removed using specialized instruments. Once the area is clean, the cavity is filled with a suitable filling material—commonly composite resin (tooth-colored), amalgam (silver-colored), or glass ionomer, depending on the location of the tooth and the patient's preferences.

Teeth fillings are effective in stopping decay from spreading and restoring the tooth’s strength, allowing patients to chew and speak normally.
